Acting Minister of Finance Hekuran Murati commented on the Prishtina Municipal Assembly’s decision to approve the transfer of own-source revenues from 2024 to 2025 — a vote that passed with the support of Vetëvendosje (VV).

Murati stated that this decision unblocked payments for essential public services, while criticizing the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) for failing to do the same at the national level.

“Today, the Vetëvendosje assembly members voted for the transfer of own-source revenues in the Prishtina Municipal Assembly. What Lumir Abdixhiku and the LDK refused to do in the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo, Vetëvendosje did in the Municipal Assembly — unblocking payments for essential public services,” Murati wrote on Facebook.

“As has been proven many times, for Vetëvendosje, the interests of citizens always come first.”

Murati has repeatedly accused the opposition parties of obstructing the approval of the 2026 state budget, as well as delaying the 2025 budget of the Municipality of Prishtina.

On Thursday, during an extraordinary session, the Municipal Assembly approved the transfer of own-source revenues amounting to €28 million. A total of 38 assembly members voted in favor, with one abstention.

This decision is expected to enable the payment of overdue municipal bills and pave the way for ending the Urban Traffic (Trafiku Urban) strike. Public transport workers have been protesting for days due to the municipality’s unpaid debts — while the municipality has blamed the Ministry of Finance for the blockage.
