Security expert Agim Musliu has reacted strongly following the release of a secretly recorded audio clip by Igor Popović, a known collaborator of the Serbian Intelligence Agency (BIA), allegedly taped during Kosovo–Serbia dialogue meetings in Brussels.
The audio, published by Dukagjini, reveals covert recordings of both formal and informal meetings held during the EU-mediated dialogue process, including with European Union officials.
“BIA collaborator Igor Popović secretly recorded EU officials during the Kosovo–Serbia dialogue,” Musliu wrote in a public statement.
According to him, Serbia has systematically infiltrated its intelligence services into the dialogue process, gathering sensitive information and engaging in espionage, even against EU representatives.
Kosovar media outlets reported that the leaked audio dates back to September 17, 2020, during high-level meetings in Brussels. It is alleged that Popović, acting on behalf of Serbian intelligence, recorded meetings without authorization, breaching diplomatic protocol.
Musliu also reminded the public of Serbia’s long-standing intelligence presence in Brussels. He referenced the 1990 assassination of Enver Hadri, a Kosovo-born human rights activist, which was carried out in Brussels by agents of the Yugoslav (now Serbian) secret service.
“Serbia has always maintained an intelligence presence in Brussels,” Musliu added, implying that such covert operations are not new, but part of a broader pattern of aggressive intelligence activities by Belgrade.
