The Parliamentary Commission for the Oversight of the Kosovo Intelligence Agency (AKI) has concluded its spring session with a meeting held at AKI’s central headquarters.
The chairwoman of this commission stated to KosovaPress that they have closely followed all the events that have involved AKI and its activities. She mentioned that they have requested from AKI Director Petrit Ajeti and his subordinates to be cautious, responsible, and above all, professional in their work.
“As a Parliamentary Commission, we have also expressed our concern regarding the publication of the identities of certain AKI officials, considering this act harmful and an obstacle to professional work. The unauthorized disclosure of AKI officials’ identities and other sensitive information not only represents a legal violation but also hinders AKI’s operations and, in some cases, could even endanger the lives of its officials,” said Musliu.
Musliu further noted that the Commission appreciates the cooperation with the media, acknowledging the crucial role of the media in keeping the public informed. However, she called on citizens and the media to be vigilant and careful when reporting or commenting on sensitive matters involving AKI employees and their methods of work, as this could compromise the security and effectiveness of AKI’s operations.
“The Commission remains committed to the effective oversight of AKI and emphasizes that AKI and other institutions in Kosovo are obligated to cooperate and assist each other in carrying out their duties and to coordinate activities within their competencies, in accordance with the laws and regulations in force concerning the protection of sources, methods, and other classified information,” she concluded.
Earlier in the day, members of the Commission for the Oversight of the Kosovo Intelligence Agency met with AKI Director Petrit Ajeti.
