Arbërie Nagavci, head of the Vetëvendosje Movement’s parliamentary group, said the working group tasked with coordinating efforts to defend former Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) leaders during the appeals proceedings before the Kosovo Specialist Chambers in The Hague is expected to become operational by early next week.

Speaking on October 15, Nagavci said Vetëvendosje had not yet selected the MP who would represent the party on the group, but stressed that the nominee would have relevant experience.

“We consider it very important that the government has taken the decision to establish the working group. Naturally, the MP delegated by us will be up to the task, but we have not yet decided on the name. I believe the process of selecting the members will be completed by early next week at the latest,” Nagavci said, according to Ekonomia Online.

She also welcomed the decision to place the working group under the leadership of Kosovo’s chief diplomat, Glauk Konjufca.

Nagavci expressed confidence that the group’s members would work together effectively, describing it as a multidimensional body expected to bring together representatives from different institutions and parliamentary groups.

“I have no doubt that there will be full agreement among the members of the working group,” she said.

The government recently approved the establishment of the group to coordinate institutional and diplomatic efforts related to the appeals proceedings before the Specialist Chambers, as well as initiatives concerning the documentation and presentation of the historical record of Kosovo’s liberation war.
