NASA astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch, and Canadian astronaut Jeremy Hansen have entered the final phase of preparations for the Artemis II mission.

The crew is scheduled to launch on April 1 from Florida aboard the Space Launch System (SLS) rocket and the Orion spacecraft, embarking on a 10-day mission around the Moon.

This will be the first crewed mission of the Artemis program and aims to test Orion’s critical systems, including life support, navigation, communications, and thermal protection.

The mission also marks historic milestones:

  • Glover will become the first Black astronaut to travel near the Moon
  • Koch will be the first woman to do so
  • Hansen will be the first non-American astronaut to go beyond low Earth orbit

The crew has completed over two years of intensive training and is fully prepared for any scenario during this crucial test mission.
