Nationalist slogans and posters opposing Kosovo’s institutions were placed on Sunday in several Serb-majority municipalities across the country.

Banners carrying messages such as “We Won’t Give Up Serbia,” “Fight Against Kurti’s Blockades,” and “I Want My Serbia Back” were seen in Gračanica, as well as in Koretishtë (Novobërdë) and North Mitrovica.

The Kosovo Police have not yet issued a statement confirming whether investigations are underway or whether any individuals have been identified in connection with the posters.

Analysts: “Signs of Weakness, Not Strength”

Security experts argue that such actions are politically motivated from Belgrade, but not a cause for concern regarding Kosovo’s internal security.

“This shows that Serbia has lost much of its influence within Kosovo’s territory, including the power of Vučić’s government. In the past, they relied on police, gendarmerie, or intelligence presence, but now they are left with nothing more than slogans and attempts to stir unrest, particularly in the four northern municipalities. I don’t see any serious security threat here,” said Avni Islami, security analyst.

Others, however, stressed the importance of holding those responsible accountable.

“Security institutions must identify the authors of these writings. Such actions often coincide with local elections and are used as a method of political pressure. Still, from a broader perspective, they do not pose a direct threat to Kosovo’s internal stability,” stated Arben Dashevci, security expert.

Political Context

The appearance of the slogans comes just one day after Serb List deputies in the Kosovo Assembly failed to secure enough votes for the position of Deputy Speaker. The party has since referred the matter to the Constitutional Court of Kosovo.
