Admiral Stuart B. Munsch, commander of Allied Joint Forces in Naples, stated at a press conference that the alliance is seeking for the Ibar Bridge not to be opened at this moment, and this issue should be part of the dialogue.

According to him, the matter of the bridge is political, not military, and could cause harm in terms of overall security.

“NATO’s policy is not to open it at this time. It will be subject to dialogue. This is a political issue, not a military one. This is due to the likelihood that it could cause harm in unsafe environments. KFOR maintains open lines of communication with all security forces in the area. At this time, we do not have a concern regarding transparency.”

“As I mentioned earlier, KFOR maintains open and transparent communication with security organizations in the region, which includes activities that are understood, and we do not have any concerns. We have some criminal groups operating in this region, but this is outside the scope of operations and, of course, this also falls to law enforcement,” he said.
