KFOR has announced that a contingent of NATO reserve forces has begun a temporary deployment in Kosovo.
According to the statement, these troops will carry out a series of training activities with KFOR units. The first contingent, the “Scots Guards” a light mechanized infantry regiment from the United Kingdom — has already arrived in Kosovo and will remain temporarily for training purposes.
This activity, KFOR notes, is part of a regular exercise aimed at improving operational readiness and the ability to respond effectively to relevant security developments.
The mission is conducted under KFOR’s longstanding UN mandate based on United Nations Security Council Resolution 1244 (1999) to contribute to a safe and secure environment for all citizens and communities in Kosovo, and to guarantee freedom of movement at all times and impartially, in cooperation with the Kosovo Police and the European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo (EULEX), according to their respective security responsibilities.
