KFOR Commander, Major General Ozkan Ulutas, visited NATO headquarters in Brussels at the conclusion of his mandate, where he informed the ambassadors of all NATO allies, as well as partners contributing troops to the KFOR mission.

Ulutas stated that he also met with NATO Deputy Secretary General Boris Ruge, and during these meetings, it was emphasized that one year after the attacks in Banjska, it is urgent for those responsible for the attack to be brought to justice.

“NATO expects Serbia to assist in ensuring full accountability. KFOR aims to ensure that such attacks do not happen again. It is important that both sides refrain from uncoordinated actions that could escalate tensions, endanger security, or threaten KFOR soldiers. NATO continues to support the EU-facilitated Dialogue as a framework to achieve a long-term and sustainable solution that respects the rights of all communities,” NATO’s statement reads.

Meanwhile, outgoing KFOR Commander Ulutas said that under his command, KFOR has successfully maintained peace and security across Kosovo, in line with its UN mandate.

“Through a visible, flexible, and adaptable stance, we have prevented risks of renewed violence and swiftly managed situations that could have led to incidents or escalations. We have further strengthened the mission and continued our role as an impartial force, working with all communities to promote security for everyone,” said Ulutas.

He further noted that KFOR has continued to provide a safe and necessary environment for diplomatic efforts to move forward.
