NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte has issued a direct warning to India, China, and Brazil, urging them to reconsider their trade ties with Russia or face severe secondary sanctions.
Rutte’s statements, reported by international media, come a day after U.S. President Donald Trump threatened new 100 percent secondary tariffs on all countries that continue to buy Russian exports if Moscow doesn’t end the war in Ukraine within 50 days.
Speaking during a meeting with senators in the U.S. Congress, Rutte made his message clear: “My encouragement to these three countries is… you might want to review this because this could hit you very hard.”
He further added that it’s time for these nations to use their diplomatic influence to help achieve peace: “Please, call Vladimir Putin and tell him that he needs to take peace talks seriously.”
