Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Monday that Israel supports U.S. President Donald Trump in his decision to impose a naval blockade on Iran, accusing Tehran of violating the rules of ongoing negotiations.

“Iran has broken the rules of the talks,” Netanyahu stated during a government meeting, referring to discussions reportedly held in Pakistan. He added that Israel fully backs Washington’s stance and is in “continuous coordination” with the United States.

According to the United States Central Command (CENTCOM), the blockade is set to begin Monday at 10:00 ET and will target Iranian ports in the Persian Gulf and surrounding coastal areas. The move would effectively place maritime traffic in the strategically critical Strait of Hormuz under U.S. control.

The development marks a significant escalation in tensions in the region, as the Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most vital oil transit chokepoints.
