August 3, 2025 – Tel Aviv — Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has confirmed that a decision has been made to proceed with a full-scale military invasion of the Gaza Strip, including operations in areas where hostages are being held.
According to Euronews, the Prime Minister’s Office delivered a clear message to the IDF Chief of Staff:
“If this does not suit you, then you should resign.”
The announcement follows months of negotiations in Doha between Hamas, Israel, and international mediators, aimed at securing a ceasefire and resolving the ongoing hostage crisis.
Hamas, for its part, had demanded that hundreds of aid trucks be allowed into Gaza before it would return to negotiations, despite intensified international efforts to deliver humanitarian aid to the besieged Palestinian enclave.
Over the weekend, Hamas released video footage showing emaciated hostages, claiming they were starving due to widespread famine in Gaza — a direct consequence, they alleged, of the Israeli blockade and military campaign.
The Israeli government’s decision signals a sharp escalation in the ongoing war, which has already resulted in thousands of civilian casualties and mass displacement across Gaza.
Observers warn that a full invasion could further complicate efforts to secure the release of hostages, deepen the humanitarian crisis, and destabilize the broader region.
