The Embassy of Kosovo in Skopje has announced that the new border regime between the Republic of Kosovo and the Republic of North Macedonia will be operationalized in mid-April 2025.
The announcement states that the brief delay was made to allow for the final technical and logistical preparations of the teams “who are working intensively to implement this important intergovernmental agreement.”
The announcement emphasizes that the new border regime will follow the “entry-entry” model, where controls will only be carried out at the entry points by the respective state police, and the officers will work in a joint facility.
“The implementation will take place simultaneously at the border points of Hani i Elezit/Bllacë and Glloboqicë/Jazhincë. This model is expected to reduce waiting times and facilitate the movement of citizens of both countries, who are increasingly traveling in both directions,” the announcement says.
