A new bridge over the Ibër River has officially opened for vehicular traffic, marking a significant development for the city of Mitrovica and the wider region.
The announcement was made by the Acting Minister of Internal Affairs, Xhelal Sveçla, who congratulated citizens on the occasion.
“Dear citizens of Mitrovica and all of Kosovo, congratulations on the new bridge,” Sveçla wrote in his statement.
The bridge, long awaited by residents, is expected to ease traffic flow and provide better connectivity between the northern and southern parts of Mitrovica, a city historically divided along the Ibër River.
Authorities view the opening as both a practical infrastructure improvement and a symbolic step toward greater integration and freedom of movement in the region.
