A new round of dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia has been scheduled for December 17 in Brussels, as confirmed by the European Union.
At this meeting, the EU Special Representative for Dialogue, Miroslav Lajčak, will meet with the chief negotiators from Kosovo and Serbia, Besnik Bislimi and Petar Petković.
In an interview with Voice of America, Deputy Prime Minister Bislimi stated that he does not expect any significant results from the December 17 meeting.
“The meeting on December 17 is not expected to produce, nor should it produce, any major expectations, neither in Brussels, Pristina, nor Belgrade. It is taking place at a critical moment for three reasons: the terrorist attack on the Ibër-Lepenc canal, the arrival of new figures in the commission, and the departure of Mr. Lajčak, who will complete his mandate.”
“Realistically, this is not the best period to start something more substantial, and it is likely that there is no readiness from the Serbian side to seriously engage in implementing the Brussels agreement and the Ohrid implementation annex,” he said.
Meanwhile, Petković told Blic TV that he will insist on a tripartite meeting on December 17, which has been missing from recent rounds of dialogue due to the unpreparedness of the Pristina delegation.
“I will insist that there be a tripartite meeting, where we can look each other in the eye and I will tell him everything I have, but also listen to his arguments. It’s easy to attack Belgrade without evidence, but Bislimi is avoiding dialogue,” he emphasized.
