The NISMA Socialdemocrate party has stated that there is no parliamentary majority in Kosovo’s Assembly, and according to the party, which holds three seats, the only solution is early elections.
In an official statement, NISMA emphasized that the country is facing a political deadlock:
“In the last meeting with the President of the Republic, all political parties clearly and officially expressed their position: there is no parliamentary majority in this Assembly, and the only solution remains new elections. This situation requires decisive and rapid institutional action. The President has a constitutional duty to respect the will of the political parties, which has now been officially recorded,” the statement read.
Full Statement Highlights:
- NISMA considers Kosovo to be in an unprecedented institutional deadlock due to the lack of political will for agreements and responsible decision-making.
- Attempts to extend government power without a parliamentary majority and without political legitimacy have worsened the situation.
- The party urges President Vjosa Osmani not to participate in political delays or make arbitrary interpretations that could threaten constitutional principles and create unnecessary tensions.
- The President’s role is to guarantee constitutional unity and ensure the democratic functioning of the state, rather than pushing the country toward a political blockade.
“It is now clear to everyone: Kosovo’s Assembly does not have a majority. The only viable path forward is early elections,” NISMA concluded.
