The mandate of Kosovo’s current president, Vjosa Osmani, ends on April 4, while the constitutional deadline to elect a new head of state is March 4.

As political parties have yet to clarify whether they have secured sufficient votes to elect the next president, several citizens have publicly expressed support for extending Osmani’s mandate, praising her performance in office.

Halil Doda, speaking to Ekonomia Online, said that Osmani has proven herself during her term and that he sees no better alternative for the position.

“Vjosa Osmani graduated from Harvard University, an institution that prepares political leaders. Over five years she has shown she is capable, aligned with America and the West. Others may try, but none will be able to replace Vjosa. She has secured another five-year mandate,” he said.

Meanwhile, Besim Ademi argued that Osmani should receive direct support from the citizens, adding that in his view, she is the most suitable figure to lead the country.

“She should be voted for by the people because she is capable, and we do not have anyone more capable in Kosovo than the blessed Vjosa Osmani,” he stated.

Ademi further emphasized that he does not see any other candidate more deserving than Osmani.

“I believe she should continue because we have no better cadre than her. She deserves the post. She is blessed and capable — we do not have more capable leaders than her,” he added.

Agim Avdiu also expressed that Osmani should remain at the head of state, praising her work during this mandate.

“She absolutely should continue as president. No one can replace her at the moment,” he said.

However, regarding whether Osmani will secure the necessary votes in the Assembly, he acknowledged uncertainty.

“I don’t know about that — that remains a question mark. But for now, no one deserves it more than Vjosa. She has worked well, continues to work well, and is a wonderful president,” Avdiu concluded.

If the Assembly fails to elect a president within the March 4 deadline, the country will head to new parliamentary elections within 45 days, in accordance with constitutional provisions.
