The prestigious Nobel Peace Prize will be announced today, amid high expectations and intense debate over potential candidates. One of the most talked-about figures is former U.S. President Donald Trump, who has long claimed he deserves the honor.

Trump has repeatedly stated that he helped end several international conflicts. During a meeting with European and Ukrainian leaders in August, he claimed to have “ended seven wars.” In an interview with Fox News, he said: “Nobody has done anything like me.”

However, security and foreign policy experts remain cautious in their assessments. Dr. Samir Puri of Chatham House noted that Trump’s interventions often represent conflict management rather than long-term peacebuilding.

“There’s a big difference between temporarily halting fighting and addressing the root causes that lead to conflict,” he said.

The nomination deadline for the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize was January 31. Trump has been nominated more than ten times during his political career by various figures, including Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet, a Ukrainian politician, and several lawmakers from the U.S., Sweden, and Norway.

However, the Nobel Committee does not release the official list of nominees before the announcement, so it remains unclear whether any of Trump’s nominations were valid within the official timeframe.

This year, there are 338 total nominations244 individuals and 94 organizations.

Despite Trump’s persistent campaign for the award, experts remain skeptical about his chances of winning, noting that the prize is typically awarded for tangible contributions to peace and reconciliation, not for controversial political claims.
