At least three people have been reported dead following a bus accident in Norway, according to state media.

The incident occurred around 1:30 PM local time in Hadsel district, located on the country’s northwestern coast, BBC reports, as conveyed by Gazeta Express.

The bus veered off the road and partially ended up in Lake Åsvatnet, according to public broadcaster NRK. It is believed that 58 passengers were on board at the time of the crash.

The Norwegian Red Cross announced on social media that teams were being dispatched to assist in the “serious bus accident” on the E10 highway.

The area has recently experienced heavy snowfall and strong winds, which are likely contributing factors to the accident.

Rescue operations are ongoing, and further updates are expected as authorities work to manage the situation.
