Republican candidate Donald Trump has officially been elected president of the United States, reports .RKS.NEWS.

He won the election by securing over 270 electoral votes. This victory came after Trump won key battleground states, including Georgia, North Carolina, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania.

Trump has garnered a total of 277 electoral votes, defeating Democratic candidate Kamala Harris.

He addressed his supporters, alongside his team and Republican vice-presidential candidate, and described the win as a “political victory,” thanking those who elected him as the 47th president.

“We will help our country heal. I will fight for your families, for your future. Every day, I will fight with every breath in my body,” he said, adding that his party had made history.

He further declared that this would be “the golden age” for America.

“This is a magnificent victory for Americans, one that will allow us to make America great again,” he emphasized.

Donald Trump served as the 45th president of the United States. Before entering politics, he was a businessman and television personality.

In June 2015, he announced his candidacy for the presidency. On November 8, 2016, he was declared the winner, defeating Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton.

He took office on January 20, 2017. At the time, Trump was the oldest person to ever assume the presidency.

Following his term, Joe Biden was elected as president.
