On May 24, Kosovo’s President Vjosa Osmani marked President’s Day by commemorating the late President Ibrahim Rugova, highlighting his enduring legacy and the vision he held for Kosovo’s future.
In a heartfelt message, Osmani said:
“Today, we walk in his footsteps. In our continued efforts to make Kosovo the country he dreamed of, and for which generations sacrificed.”
As part of the commemoration, President Osmani paid tribute at Rugova’s grave and visited the Rugova family residence, where she also released a video from inside the home — a symbolic gesture honoring the personal and political legacy of Kosovo’s first President.
Rugova, remembered as the architect of Kosovo’s peaceful resistance and a symbol of national unity, remains a foundational figure in the country’s modern history.
