A battalion of one hundred soldiers from the Ohio National Guard has departed for Kosovo for an eleven-month rotation as part of NATO’s peacekeeping forces in KFOR, reported the American magazine “Dvids.”
“Family, friends, and colleagues gathered at Gowen Field on August 22, 2024, to bid farewell to the Soldiers of the 1st Battalion, 183rd Attack Helicopter of the Idaho Army National Guard, as they departed from Idaho to prepare for deployment abroad in support of Operation Joint Guardian.”
“Several UH-60M Black Hawk helicopters and over 100 personnel were deployed to Texas to receive approximately 30 days of additional training before heading to Kosovo for an 11-month rotation in support of NATO’s peacekeeping mission.
The unit has been planning this mission since October 2022, and the battalion’s Task Force Sawtooth has been training for the past 18 months in preparation for this deployment,” the article further states.
