Operation “Befasia” Seizes Drugs in Mitrovica, One Arrested

On March 11, 2025, the Kosovo Police conducted a successful operation in the city of Mitrovica, seizing illegal narcotics and arresting suspects involved in drug trafficking activities.

The operation, codenamed “Befasia,” was carried out by investigators from the Directorate for Drug Trafficking Investigations – South Mitrovica, in collaboration with the Rapid Response Unit – South Mitrovica.

During the planned search, the police found and seized 24 bags containing a suspected narcotic substance, cocaine, weighing a total of 7.5 grams, 6 bags of marijuana weighing 68.7 grams, and 4 ecstasy tablets totaling 2.2 grams.

Additionally, empty bags typically used for packaging drugs in small quantities were seized, along with a mobile phone suspected to have been used in the illegal activities.

A regional Crime Scene Investigation team was dispatched to the location to photograph, document, measure, and seize all physical evidence. Following the operation, the suspect was arrested and interviewed in the presence of his defense attorney.

The police report noted that the suspect had a final sentence of 2 years in prison for the crime of “Buying, possessing, distributing, and selling unauthorized narcotics, psychotropic substances, and analogs,” according to Article 267 of the Kosovo Penal Code.

The case prosecutor from the Mitrovica Basic Prosecution has been informed, and the suspect has been ordered to serve his sentence.

“After the interview, the suspect was handed over to the Mitrovica South Police Station and sent to serve his sentence at the Pretrial Detention Center in Pristina,” the report states.

This operation is another step in the ongoing fight by the Kosovo Police against organized crime and drug trafficking, underscoring the commitment of law enforcement to protect citizens and public safety. The Kosovo Police reaffirmed their dedication to uncovering and preventing criminal activities that threaten public order, especially those that endanger the health of youth.
