As part of the operation “Maritime Security”, the Maritime Police Unit and Border Police in Albania continue intensive monitoring of maritime, lake, and river areas to enhance safety parameters, according to the State Police, reports Gazeta Sinjali.

This week alone, from Koman to Ksamil, authorities inspected 414 watercraft, of which 26 were seized for various violations. Specifically, 16 jet skis, 4 speedboats, 3 rubber dinghies, and 3 metal boats with installed water motors were confiscated.

Eleven of these vessels were found operating within the safety perimeter, endangering the lives of vacationers. Their operators were each fined 100,000 lek.

Furthermore, thanks to the immediate intervention of the Border Police and the Maritime Police Unit, 28 individuals (both Albanians and foreigners) and 9 vessels were rescued in the area stretching from Ksamil to Koman.

The Border Police urge strict compliance with boating regulations: do not cross safety perimeters, sail only in designated areas, and always be equipped with necessary safety gear.
