The Ministry of Interior (MUP) of Republika Srpska issued a statement regarding Operation “Tunnel 2,” conducted across Banja Luka, East Sarajevo, and Bijeljina.
According to the statement, police officers from the Directorate for Organized and Serious Crime of the Republika Srpska MUP, under the supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina and in cooperation with local police departments, are carrying out the operation. Seven Individuals Arrested
So far, seven individuals from Banja Luka and East Sarajevo have been detained on suspicion of committing multiple criminal offenses, including:
- Association for the Purpose of Committing Criminal Acts under Article 249, Paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
- Money Laundering under Article 209, Paragraph 3, in relation to Paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
- Abuse of Official Position or Authority under Article 315 of the Criminal Code of Republika Srpska.
- Accepting Bribes under Article 319 of the Criminal Code of Republika Srpska.
Searches of residential and business premises linked to the suspects are ongoing in Banja Luka, East Sarajevo, and Bijeljina, the statement added.
Key Arrests
The Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina had earlier confirmed the arrest of Nenad Nešić, Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Minister of Security, and Mladen Lučić, along with several other individuals, in connection with the operation.
