Konstantin Samofalov, international secretary of the Freedom and Justice Party (SSP), sharply criticized Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić following his recent public statements regarding Serbia’s foreign relations.

Vučić reportedly stated that he had expected significant progress from the new U.S. administration, but claimed he has no support from any major world power.

Samofalov responded:

“That Vučić is a liar, we knew long ago, but with this kind of whining, he has outdone himself. He should complain to former leaders who worried about whether he ate or slept, while the people of Serbia will hold him accountable for a humiliation that modern Serbia has never seen.”

The SSP official highlighted the contrast between Vučić’s earlier claims of international respect and the current complaints:

  1. Vučić (2019): “Serbia today enjoys greater respect in the world than ever before in its history.”
  2. Vučić (2020): “They don’t have to love Serbia, but today they must respect it.”
  3. Vučić (2021): “The world respects me. They don’t have to love me, but they respect me and know I speak the truth.”
  4. Ana Brnabić (2022): “Serbia today is a respected state, a partner engaged with seriously and with respect.”
  5. Miloš Vučević (2023): “Serbia has regained international prestige and respect it never had before.”
  6. Marko Đurić (2025): “I am very pleased with the Washington visit, as Serbia–U.S. relations are seriously and steadily growing and seeing significant progress.”

Samofalov pointed out that from claims of unparalleled international respect, Vučić has now resorted to complaints about being disliked, demonstrating a stark contrast between rhetoric and reality.

“This is a leader who prioritizes his own image over the dignity and interests of Serbia,” Samofalov added.
