During a visit to Gjakova, the EU Ambassador to Kosovo, Aivi Orav, emphasized the importance of being on the ground to identify opportunities for cooperation and to make the European integration process more tangible for citizens. He made these comments during a meeting with the Mayor of Gjakova, Ardian Gjini.

“I am very pleased to hear from Mayor Gjini about the many functional EU-funded projects in Gjakova, especially the city heating plant, which is a vital service for the citizens and financed by the EU,” said Ambassador Orav.
“We continue to work closely with all municipalities and the people of Kosovo to accelerate the integration process.”

Mayor Gjini, in his remarks, highlighted the EU’s role as the main contributor at both local and national levels:

“It can never be said too often: Kosovo’s path is towards the European Union. We must do everything we can — as a municipality and as a country — to create the conditions that bring us closer to membership. I thanked the ambassador and his office for their continued support to Gjakova, and I’m confident this cooperation will continue.”

As part of the visit, Ambassador Orav and Mayor Gjini also met with local entrepreneurs, visited the innovation center, and toured the Museum of Gjakova.
