The Head of the European Union Mission in Kosovo, Aivo Orav, discussed the draft statute for the Association of Serb-majority Municipalities proposed by the EU.
Orav explained that the draft statute was created by the European Union and delivered to Pristina by former special envoy for the dialogue, Miroslav Lajčak. He added that Lajčak’s successor, Peter Sorensen, during his visit to Kosovo, heard different positions from all parties regarding the issue.
“The statute was drafted by the EU, it was delivered here by the former special envoy for the dialogue, and after Sorensen was here to listen to the positions of all sides, we had different opinions on how to proceed with the process. It is still up to him to decide if something can be done differently or if we continue exactly as before,” Orav said.
“We are listening to all the messages in official meetings, behind closed doors, but also analyzing and closely following the media to see what politicians, civil society, and businessmen are saying, and we take all of this into consideration,” he added in an interview with “Info Magazine” on Klan Kosova.
Regarding the draft statute, President Vjosa Osmani stated that it is not in line with the 2015 Constitutional Court opinion on the Association.
