Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán accused his Western allies of wanting to drag Hungary into an armed conflict similar to World War I and World War II, even comparing them to Adolf Hitler.
“I have re-examined” in light of the Russian invasion of Ukraine “documents related to the negotiations between Hitler” and Hungarian leader Miklos Horthy, Orban told Hungarian state radio.
“Hungary was under tremendous pressure to send as soon as possible more soldiers to the front and to deport more Jews” to the death camps. I am not saying that what we are experiencing today has reached the same level, but we are moving in that direction,” noted the only leader of an EU member state that has maintained close bilateral relations with Russia despite the war.
Orban also condemned the decision of Western governments, taken, according to him, under pressure from NATO, to allow Kiev to use the weapons they have against targets in Russia.
“The Russians have said that the more effective the weapons are against them, the more they make progress,” recalled the Hungarian Prime Minister.
