More than 270 swimmers are expected to dive into Lake Ujman on Sunday as part of the Orthodox Epiphany tradition of retrieving the Holy Cross, according to local Serbian-language outlet Zubin Potok INFO.
The report states that the number of registered participants could rise to nearly 300, reflecting strong interest in the annual religious ritual.
At the same time, it has been confirmed that the Raška and Prizren Diocese will once again not assume responsibility for organizing or participating in the Epiphany dive. According to the Diocese, the decision is due to unfulfilled technical and safety requirements.
This marks the third consecutive year that the Epiphany diving ceremony is being held without the official blessing of the Church authorities.
The event is being organized by the “Stari Kolašin” Cultural Center, the report added.
