President Vjosa Osmani, speaking in Viti today, was asked by journalists about the EU’s statements, specifically those from spokesperson Peter Stano, that the issue of opening the Iber Bridge should be discussed in Brussels.

Osmani described these statements as racist and argued that if this were to happen, it would be unconstitutional and against Kosovo’s sovereignty. She added that the EU spokesperson, Peter Stano, does not consult neighboring countries when crossing a bridge in his own state. Similarly, she stated that Serbia should not be consulted about a bridge on Kosovo’s territory.

Osmani emphasized that dialogue should be conducted with “our saviors.”

“As for the European Union, the statements from the spokespersons of these institutions are, above all, racist, so I do not believe they deserve more of my attention. I have always expressed my position on their racist statements. There is no reason and I strongly oppose any discussion of the bridge opening issue in Brussels; there is no need to consult Serbia. Just as this spokesperson, who seems to be from Slovakia, does not ask any neighboring countries when crossing a bridge in his own country, Serbia should not be consulted about a bridge within the territory of the Republic of Kosovo. Dialogue with Serbia on this issue should not be accepted by anyone; it would be unconstitutional and against Kosovo’s sovereignty. However, dialogue with our saviors is not only necessary and essential but is also in our best interest,” Osmani said.
