Osmani after Meeting with Prattipati: U.S. Military Presence Key Factor for Stability

President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, met today with U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Anu Prattipati to discuss recent developments in Kosovo and the region. The Presidency stated that Osmani expressed appreciation for President Donald Trump’s invitation for Kosovo to become a co-founding member of the Peace Board, as well as for guarantees regarding regional peace and stability.

During the meeting, Osmani also highlighted her discussions with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Washington, emphasizing the importance of the U.S. and NATO allies’ military presence as a key factor for regional stability.

The Presidency’s statement noted:

“President Osmani reiterated Kosovo’s commitment to active engagement and continued contribution to peace and stability in the region. She underscored discussions focused on advancing the Kosovo–U.S. strategic partnership, with emphasis on regional security, diplomacy, economic cooperation, and defense.”

Osmani emphasized that Kosovo’s NATO membership remains a strategic objective for long-term peace and reaffirmed the importance of bilateral strategic dialogue with the United States, calling the partnership vital and existential for Kosovo.

The meeting also covered recent political developments in Kosovo, including the completion of constitutional processes and full institutional consolidation, aimed at strengthening democratic stability, national development, and addressing citizens’ needs.

President Osmani highlighted improvements in security and rule of law in northern Kosovo, referencing recent Kosovo Police reports showing a significantly calmer and safer situation for citizens in 2025.
