President Vjosa Osmani and Prime Minister Albin Kurti have extended their congratulations to Germany on Unity Day.

The head of state expressed that the people of Kosovo join their German friends and allies in celebrating the strength and unity that this day represents. “Germany has always been and remains one of Kosovo’s strongest allies. Our relationship is based on shared democratic values, with our diaspora in Germany serving as a testament to the ever-growing bond between our countries,” the president wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Kurti stated that this historic event “celebrates reunification, freedom, and the cultural ties that unite our countries.”

“After more than four decades of division during the Cold War, and under pressure from German Chancellor Helmut Kohl, Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev agreed to a unified Germany within NATO, leading to Germany’s reunification on this day in 1990. Our strong diaspora in Germany is a living testimony of the friendship, contribution, and shared values between us. Here’s to continued cooperation and unity!” Kurti wrote.
