The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, and the Acting Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, have been honored with the “Honorary Alumni” award by the University of Prishtina (UP). The award ceremony took place at a special event where the university’s rector, Arben Hajrullahu, expressed his gratitude and deep appreciation for both state leaders.

In his address, Rector Hajrullahu highlighted the significance of Osmani’s and Kurti’s presence, describing it as an act of great dedication to the institution.

“Within one week, they found the time to come and honor the University of Prishtina. This sends a strong signal that shows how important this university is to our leaders, who, despite their busy schedules, always find a way to remain part of this temple of knowledge,” he said.

Hajrullahu emphasized that the University of Prishtina has produced many distinguished figures, including Osmani and Kurti, who continue to make Kosovo proud both at home and abroad.

During her speech, President Osmani expressed her emotions about returning to her alma mater:

“There is something profoundly beautiful about a former student returning to their university. To come back here and receive an honor from this temple of knowledge is a feeling that’s hard to describe,” she said, stressing the importance of education and commitment to learning.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Kurti described the recognition as a symbolic bridge between the past and future of the University of Prishtina.

“I see myself closely connected with both the past and the future of this university. The history of Kosovo is divided into two eras — Prishtina before and after the establishment of its university. The fate of Kosovo is inseparable from that of the University of Prishtina,” he said.

Kurti concluded by emphasizing that it is the duty of all leaders to help UP become one of the top universities in the region and the world, fostering Kosovo’s development and strength.
