The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, on the anniversary of the gruesome murder in the Vejsa family, remembered the loss of lives of the unprotected citizens of Gjakova between April 1st and 2nd, 1999.
“The names of the children and martyr women from the families: Vejsa, Caka, Haxhiavdija, Nuqi, Hoxha, and Gashi from Gjakova, are a perpetual memory and testify to the difficult path of our aspirations for freedom and state. 25 years ago, the genocidal Serbian regime, displayed its brutality when it killed and then burned in the basement of the Vejsa family house members of these families aged between 2 and 75 years,” Osmani wrote.
Osmani also wrote that the burning alive of Kosovo’s children is the truth of Serbia, which continues to protect the criminals who committed these heinous crimes with a clear genocidal intent. By keeping the memory of them alive, we will continue the battle for justice.
“May the memory of all those who fell for freedom be eternal!” she emphasized.
