The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, stated that it is time for the EU to lift measures against Kosovo and show the same firmness towards Serbia, which she referred to as Russia’s satellite.
Osmani made this request during a joint press conference with the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen.
The President emphasized that Kosovo is making significant efforts to align its policies with those of the EU.
“I look forward to continuing the cooperation we have built over the years. This visit comes just days after the approval of the reform agenda for Kosovo. This is good news, and these steps serve as an additional motivation to work harder for the EU. The agenda focuses on five areas, and it is anticipated that by the end of 2027, Kosovo will receive 882 million euros. Kosovo will be the largest beneficiary of this package per capita.”
“It is time for the unjust measures against Kosovo to be lifted. Besides being unjust, these measures harm the citizens of Kosovo and also damage the dialogue process. Lifting the measures reflects the needs of the citizens, businesses, and fulfills the preconditions that the EU had set regarding these measures.”
