Vjosa Osmani, the President of the Republic of Kosovo, honored President Bill Clinton in Berlin, reading a ‘Laudatio’ as he was awarded the “Peacemaker of the Century” prize by the World Forum.
Osmani reflected on the past, particularly recalling the March of 1999, during the time of war. She mentioned that thanks to the support from Clinton and the democratic world, Kosovo is now free.
“In Berlin last night, I had the honor of reading a ‘Laudatio’ for President Bill Clinton, who was awarded the ‘Peacemaker of the Century’ prize by the World Forum,” said Osmani.
She went on to recall the difficult period of the 1999 war, when people in Kosovo listened with hope to Clinton’s speeches on a small radio while enduring the horrors of Milosevic’s regime. Today, thanks to the liberation war and the leadership of the democratic world, alongside bipartisan American support from both Democrats and Republicans, Kosovo breathes free and independent.
Osmani emphasized that Clinton’s support for Kosovo has always reflected American values: freedom, justice, and democracy.
“Thank you, President Clinton, not only for the signed agreements but above all for the lives saved. And especially, thank you on behalf of Kosovo’s children—this first generation growing up without war, knowing only peace,” Osmani wrote on Facebook.
