Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani has presented evidence to the newly elected President of the European Council, Antonio Costa, regarding Serbia’s involvement in the terrorist attack on the Ibër-Lepenc canal in Zubin-Potok.
According to a media release from the Presidency of Kosovo, Osmani and Costa met in Brussels ahead of the EU-Western Balkans Summit. During the meeting, Osmani emphasized that the continued freedom of terrorist Milan Radoičić in Serbia serves as proof that the Serbian state is unwilling to take responsibility for its acts of aggression against Kosovo.
“She presented to President Costa evidence linking Serbia to this attack, as well as to the September attack last year, which was an act of aggression against Kosovo. She added that the key terrorist responsible for executing orders from the official Belgrade for attacks on Kosovo, Milan Radoičić, remains at large, which demonstrates Serbia’s unwillingness to be held accountable for its aggressive actions against Kosovo,” stated the release from the Presidency.
Osmani also expressed Kosovo’s readiness to cooperate with international partners in investigating the terrorist act and thanked the international community for their solidarity and support. She stressed the importance of focusing on preventing further attacks.
Additionally, President Osmani called for the removal of the sanctions imposed on Kosovo.
On the evening of November 29, the Ibër-Lepenc water canal in the village of Varragë, Zubin-Potok, was attacked with explosives. The canal supplies water to several cities and is also used to cool the Kosovo Energy Corporation’s (KEK) power plants.
The attack was classified as a terrorist act by both Kosovo and international authorities. Several individuals were arrested in northern Kosovo, and weapons, uniforms, and explosives were confiscated in connection with the attack.
