During the Independence Day anniversary ceremony, the President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, highlighted the historical significance of this month and day, calling it a moment “measured not in hours or minutes, but in centuries.”
She emphasized the importance of Albanian unity, which, according to her, has endured through difficult periods and suffering.
“This is the month when our history blooms; on this very day, we united the legacies,” Osmani said.
In her speech, the President recalled the dark periods of Albanian history, when the Albanian flag was banned, and Albanians were persecuted and killed under the Serbian regime.
She stressed that, despite the occupiers’ efforts, “no one can stop the Albanian spirit.”
“For decades, when the flag was banned and Albanians were persecuted and killed, the Serbian regime tried to stop it, but no one could stop the Albanian spirit. Albania is gradually moving toward EU membership, and all Albanians are part of this journey,” Osmani stated.
Osmani also highlighted that Albania and Kosovo are progressively advancing toward European Union membership, a process that encompasses all Albanians.
“Our countries may be divided on maps, but they are united in hearts,” concluded the President.
