The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, met last night with the Commander of KFOR, Major General Enrico Barduani, in a working dinner where they discussed security issues in the country, according to the Presidency.
During the meeting, Osmani emphasized the “ongoing commitment to a safe and stable Kosovo, as a prerequisite for development and prosperity,” and reiterated the importance of coordination between Kosovo’s institutions and international partners on security matters, with the aim of protecting all citizens and safeguarding the country’s sovereignty.
The Presidency stated that, in this context, Osmani continues to have regular meetings with the KFOR commander to strengthen cooperation with security partners, especially NATO.
Osmani expressed gratitude to KFOR, which has increased its troop numbers and “is supporting Kosovo’s institutions in patrolling the border with Serbia.”
“The President reiterated the risks posed by Serbia’s destabilizing tactics, especially due to the lack of accountability from Serbia, both for the September 2023 act of aggression and the attacks on KFOR in May 2023.”
Furthermore, during the meeting, Osmani and Barduani affirmed their mutual commitment to maintaining a secure environment for all citizens, acknowledging that cooperation and mutual trust are the foundation for lasting peace and stability, the Presidency said.
