Kosovo’s deepening institutional crisis—now entering its third month since the February 9 elections—remains unresolved, as the Parliament continues to fail to constitute itself, creating significant disruptions in state functioning. In a decisive move, President Vjosa Osmani is convening a high-stakes meeting today at 13:00 with all parliamentary party leaders in a bid to break the deadlock.

All Key Political Leaders Confirm Participation

Confirmed attendees include:

  • Albin Kurti (LVV)
  • Memli Krasniqi (PDK)
  • Lumir Abdixhiku (LDK)
  • Ramush Haradinaj (AAK)

The meeting will be held at the Presidency, just hours after the 16th attempt to constitute the Parliament—scheduled for 10:30 today—which, like all prior efforts, has faltered due to lack of inter-party consensus.

Osmani Warns of Mounting Consequences

Speaking ahead of the gathering, President Osmani expressed serious concern over the repercussions of continued political blockage:

“The absence of a functioning Parliament means international agreements cannot be ratified—agreements that directly benefit citizens. It damages the credibility of our institutions, erodes public trust, and tarnishes Kosovo’s international reputation,” she stated following her meeting with EU Council President Antonio Costa.

A Series of Dialogues Planned

Osmani emphasized that today’s meeting is just the beginning of a broader process:

“The failure to constitute Parliament poses a serious risk to the constitutional functioning of our institutions. I hope all party leaders will engage by placing the country’s interest above all else,” she said.

This initiative marks a critical moment for Kosovo’s political stability, as tensions escalate and the need for institutional clarity becomes increasingly urgent.
