Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani paid tribute to the fallen heroes Hakif Zejnullahu, Zahir Pajaziti, and Edmond Hoxha on the 29th anniversary of their deaths, highlighting their role in laying the foundations of the Republic of Kosovo.

President Osmani emphasized that their sacrifice was pivotal for the country’s fight for freedom:

“January 31 is one of the most significant days in the history of the Republic of Kosovo. It is a day that inspires the growth of the Kosovo Liberation Army and, more broadly, all Kosovars who fought for freedom. On this day, Zahir Pajaziti, Hakif Zejnullahu, and Edmond Hoxha fell as heroes of our Republic, giving the ultimate gift of liberty and inspiring a whole nation to continue the struggle for the freedom that had been denied for centuries. Their sacrifice laid the strong foundations of our sovereign and independent state, built with blood, effort, and immense sacrifice. Among the most important of these sacrifices, which gave weight to our liberty and light to our path forward, is the sacrifice of Zahir Pajaziti and his comrades, whom we honor today.”

The president’s tribute reaffirmed the enduring legacy of these figures in Kosovo’s history and the nation’s ongoing journey as a free and independent state.
