The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, has stated that “white smoke” will only rise once the Assembly is constituted.

She said she may refer the matter to the Constitutional Court if the delay continues.

“The discussion was respectful and constructive. Perhaps due to my long experience, I’ve seen all kinds of meetings this one wasn’t like those. The white smoke rises only when we have the constitution of the Assembly. I mentioned minimal willingness in the context that there is a desire among all leaders to find a solution and to hear new ideas. Sending the matter to the Constitutional Court was discussed for the first time. The hope was that the Assembly would be constituted more quickly and that we wouldn’t need to reach this point,” said Osmani.

“I am ready to turn to the Constitutional Court if the stalling continues. If this drags on too long, leaders must sit down and agree to hold new elections. However, to do that, they must first agree to the constitution of the Assembly,” she added.
