On the 26th anniversary of Kosovo’s liberation, President Vjosa Osmani asserted that the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) fighters and NATO soldiers transformed terror into courage and pain into hope. On that historic day, she stated, “they brought light after a long darkness and made freedom a reality.”
In a powerful Facebook post, Osmani emphasized that despite attempts by “enemies of Kosovo” to alter history, “a history written in blood cannot be changed or erased by lies written with a pencil.”
A Legacy Forged in Blood and Hope
“On this day, 26 years ago, hope landed on the burned soil of Kosovo: 50,000 NATO soldiers entered our suffering country, contributing to the liberation of a people oppressed for centuries, and over one million Albanians returned to their homes,” Osmani wrote.
She reiterated the profound impact of the combined efforts: “KLA fighters and NATO soldiers turned terror into courage and pain into hope. On that historic day, they brought light after a long darkness and made freedom a reality.”
President Osmani concluded her message with a resolute declaration: “Free, independent, democratic, eternal Kosovo! Because eternity was given to it by the martyrs and heroes of freedom!”
