President Vjosa Osmani held a consultative meeting with Fatmir Limaj, leader of the Nisma (Initiative) party, today. This meeting is part of ongoing efforts to constitute the Assembly of Kosovo, as reported by Gazeta Sinjali.
The meeting comes just as the constitutional deadline, set by the Constitutional Court’s ruling, is about to expire. This ruling obligates deputies to constitute the Assembly within 30 days of the certification of election results.
“President Osmani emphasized that the implementation of this judgment is a clear constitutional obligation and highlighted the importance for all representatives of citizens to act in a spirit of cooperation and trust, with the aim of reaching the quickest possible solution for the constitution of the Assembly, in the interest of citizens and the democratic functioning of the state,” the announcement stated.
Meanwhile, the 49th session for electing the Speaker of the Assembly is expected to be held on Saturday. The Vetëvendosje (VV) movement has so far failed 48 times to secure the necessary votes for the election of its candidate, Albulena Haxhiu, to this position.
