President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, reportedly met separately this afternoon with the leader of Nisma, Fatmir Limaj, and the leader of Vetëvendosje, Albin Kurti, at their request. The meetings were an effort to find a solution for the constitution of Kosovo’s institutions in the final hours of the 30-day constitutional deadline set by the Constitutional Court.

No Progress Made on Speaker Position

According to a report from RTV21, the meetings did not result in a shift in positions or a convergence of views between the two leaders. Both Kurti and Limaj failed to align their stances on the issue of the Assembly Speaker position.

Limaj reportedly maintained his position that the post should be given to Nisma to break the political stalemate. However, Kurti insisted he was interested in a co-governance agreement with Limaj but was unwilling to concede the Speaker’s position.

Currently, Vetëvendosje holds 56 seats in the Assembly and is seeking the remaining votes to form a majority. It needs two votes from non-Serb communities and the three votes from Nisma to reach the 61-vote majority required to constitute the Assembly. A new Assembly session is expected to be held tonight at 10:00 PM, but there are low expectations for a breakthrough.
