President Vjosa Osmani met today with Ariella Viehe, NATO’s Chief of Current Operations, outgoing Director Brigadier General Christian Naërat, and incoming Director Brigadier General Dr. Sven Lange.
According to a statement released by the Office of the President, Osmani expressed her gratitude for NATO Advisory and Liaison Team’s (NALT) unwavering support in developing and advancing the Kosovo Security Force (KSF), the Ministry of Defense, and other security institutions in alignment with NATO and partner country standards.
NATO’s Commitment to Regional Security
During the meeting, discussions also touched on the recent visit of NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte to Kosovo. Osmani emphasized NATO’s critical role in maintaining peace, stability, and security at both the regional and global levels.
“Referring to Secretary General Mark Rutte’s recent visit, President Osmani underscored NATO’s commitment to regional and global stability and highly valued his message of support for Kosovo,” the statement read.
Osmani also praised Brigadier General Christian Naërat for his outstanding contribution during his tenure, particularly in a sensitive period for national and regional security. She commended his professional engagement in strengthening KSF capacities and his fruitful cooperation with the Office of the President.
Recognition of General Naërat’s Contributions
In recognition of his exceptional contributions to the development and advancement of KSF and the Ministry of Defense, as well as his close cooperation with Kosovo’s institutions, President Osmani awarded Brigadier General Naërat the Presidential Military Medal.
“For Brigadier General Dr. Sven Lange, President Osmani expressed full confidence that he will successfully continue implementing key NALT objectives and projects to further enhance Kosovo’s security institutions and strengthen cooperation with NATO,” the statement concluded.
