Kosovo’s President, Vjosa Osmani, has condemned the recent abduction and injury of Millan Vukashinoviq on 1 November, which occurred inside the territory of Kosovo. The citizen is reported to be in critical condition, and the Kosovo ambassador in Belgrade was denied access to visit him.

President Osmani described the incident as a serious crime and provocation by Serbia, framing it as an attempted assassination:

“Yes, as confirmed by cadastral data, this is part of the territory of the Republic of Kosovo. Regarding the ongoing investigation by our institutions in cooperation with security agencies of allied countries, we are still awaiting the final conclusion. Nevertheless, based on current information from our security institutions, this incident occurred within Kosovo’s territory. Beyond the location, this remains a grave crime and provocation, an attempted assassination by Serbian state institutions against a citizen of the Republic of Kosovo. Even if this had happened within Serbian territory, which it did not, it would still constitute a serious provocation undermining peace and long-term stability in our region, a risk Serbia continually poses,” Osmani stated.

President Osmani also emphasized that Kosovo is in constant communication with QUINT states and other international representatives regarding the case. She noted that the Kosovo ambassador in Belgrade, Ambassador Jashari, attempted multiple times to visit the injured citizen but was refused by the hospital authorities.

“As President, from day one, I have maintained communication with QUINT representatives and other international officials about this serious violation by Serbia. Our institutions are also in contact with the injured citizen’s family and all witnesses who saw the incident and can testify about what happened,” Osmani added.

This incident highlights the persistent threats Serbia poses to Kosovo’s sovereignty, and raises serious concerns about the safety of citizens inside their own territory.
