Osmani sent a letter to party leaders on July 26.
“Through this letter, I am addressing you regarding the joint consultation on setting the date of the general elections in the Republic of Kosovo.
In accordance with the deadline defined in Article 66 (2) of the Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo and Article 5 (2) of Law No. 08/L -228 for the General Elections in the Republic of Kosovo (“Law”), the regular elections for the Assembly must be held during the period January 26-February 16, 2025. Consequently, in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution and the Law, today July 26, officially begins the phase within which consultations can be held to set the date of the elections.
In this regard, based on my constitutional powers for announcing elections for the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo, you are invited to a consultative meeting on July 31, 2024, at 2:00 p.m., in Hall S301, in the Building of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo. it is said in Osman’s letter.
The last national elections were held on February 14, 2021, when the Vetëvendosje Movement came first with more than 50 percent of the votes. The second party was PDK, the third was LDK, and the fourth was AAK. Fatmir Limaj’s party had not managed to cross the electoral threshold.
Vetëvendosje had won the elections in coalition with the “Guxo” Party founded by Vjosa Osmani, who is now the President of the Republic.
