President of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani remains fully open to consultations with political party leaders at any time they deem necessary, according to her media advisor Bekim Kupina. His remarks come after the Kosovo Assembly failed for the sixth time to complete its constitutive session due to a continued deadlock over the election of the Speaker.
The Democratic Institute of Kosovo (KDI) has called on Osmani to play a more active role and convene a meeting with party leaders in order to break the political impasse. The Assembly’s most recent session on Friday again failed to secure a majority for Vetëvendosje’s candidate Albulena Haxhiu, who has not received more than 57 votes in any of the four rounds of voting.
In response to the calls, Kupina told KOHA that President Osmani had already expressed her readiness for dialogue in a letter dated April 16, addressed to session chair Avni Dehari.
“President Osmani has already offered full readiness for consultations with party leaders, whenever they consider it necessary,” Kupina said.
He emphasized that the President had extended an open invitation for meetings, reinforcing her willingness to help mediate a solution.
Following the initial failed attempt to constitute the Assembly on April 15, Dehari had informed the President about the situation. In her written reply, Osmani had stressed that the constitutive session must resume within 48 hours of adjournment and reiterated her availability for meetings with party representatives if required.
